Her time as a reporter at The Washington Post was spent reporting on numerous Olympics, Grand Slam Tennis as well as basketball and football. Nichols was hired by ESPN from 2004. She worked for nine years there, earning 2 Emmy Awards. She also featured on the most watched shows on ESPN such as SportsCenter or NFL Countdown. Nichols was also a one of the networks' Monday Night Football broadcasts as a sideline reporter. She then moved to CNN and Turner Sports. Nichols covered NBA shows on TNT, including the regular season, playoffs and All-Star broadcasts. Also, she has worked at TBS as a reporter who covers golf and baseball broadcasts. CBS broadcasted the Final Four. marking only the second time in the award's 42-year-old record that a woman is nominated amongst the more than 200 candidates.
