One of her personal highlights was being selected by a scout to join Snoop at the YouTube Brandcast, in May 2013 and composing songs in spite of the chaos over the last few years. Now a magnet for up-and-coming producers, she regularly combs through beats sent her way and realizes that most end up sparking song ideas. She claims that she is able to determine if the beat is good in just five seconds. Then, a new song may pop up in her mind. When I am playing my guitar outside on my porch the words begin to flow. The majority of the time it is accomplished in 30 minutes. As she continues develop as a musician, Niykee says that the pain of her past serves as an endless source of unlikely ideas. When I'm not writing in a literal way about what has been a part of my life, all the trauma of my childhood and the loss of my sister end being incorporated into my songs, she states. This shapes my music and adds a greater significance, something I consider extremely important. I'd like to be able to hear my music 20 years from now and still feel proud about my words.
